Stampin’ Up! Convention 2012 – Spooktacular Halloween Project!

During one of the sessions, they announced an August promotion for new demonstrators signing up as well as for the demonstrator they signed up with.  Both will receive the following Howl-o-ween Printer’s Tray project kit FREE!

The kit contains everything you need to make the project except ink.

If you are local to the Dallas area, we can pick out a night to make the project together.  So fun!  This is only available in August.

The convention theme was “i am…” this year, and they asked us to complete that for ourselves.  I wanted to answer using something to try to sum up my Stampin’ Up! experience.  I thought about it for a while and decided on “i am…having the time of my life”.   Read all about being a demo and how to sign up by clicking the “Join My Team” link which will take you to my SU! site.  If you have any questions, let me know.

I can’t wait to make one of these projects…isn’t it boo-tiful!

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Closing Session & 3 More Free Stamp Sets!

More classes and great project ideas today.  Did I mention we had 3500 demos at convention this year?  They gave us a special demo only convention exclusive stamp set at lunch time.  At closing session, we had live streaming video for the first part including Rich Jutkins, SU! president, in a fortune telling machine playing "Richtar".  Shelli and Sara asked him questions to determine the location of the incentive trip for demos in 2014. They finally announced it would be a cruise to the Western Caribbean; and for the first time ever, it would be a global trip with demos from all over the world.  Later, Carrie Cudney played the bagpipes on stage (her hidden talent and one of her "i am..." items); and the Canadian Manager came out dancing on stage to celebrate ten years in Canada.  We got the Ronald McDonald charity stamp set, Moving Forward, for free and at the end Shelli also gave everyone the Mixed Medley hostess set from the holiday catalog.

Here are some of the photos for today.

After closing session, we went to the Blue Lemon for dinner one last time, then we walked through the Temple Square area to view the beautiful temple, gardens, and statues.

So sad it's over, but anxious to get home and share all the goodies and ideas we received.

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Witches & Wands

Friday started with Shannon West doing Halloween projects in a great witch costume.  I tried to get a photo, but we were far away.

She did Fall projects too.

I also forgot to mention that the Manager's Reception coming in January will be in Orlando at Universal Studios Harry Potter World.  They also gave out 5 wands after they announced it.  I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan so this will probably be my favorite Manager's Reception ever!!!

We took lots of photos of display boards after lunch Friday and had our optional fun project classes Friday night.

More tomorrow...

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Singing & Dancing

We went to our first General Session this morning.  They opened with a great video of home office employees lip-syncing this year's convention song as they moved the cameras through the departments of the home office. It's on YouTube, so I'll put a link on my facebook page.  We had a little time to look at product demonstrations and display boards after lunch and then off to our first Make'n'Take which was a craft box and 3 cards.  They separated the Make'nTakes into 3 sessions this time.

By the way, I gave My Digital Studio Journals to all my roommates.  Here's 3 of them.  I changed out the color so that each journal matched it's owner's favorite color.

We went to a couple of classes, had another General Session, ate Mexican food for dinner with Dee and Terri, then went to Awards Night.  There was an after party too with a D.J., desserts, lemonade, and dancing.  I had to get a photo with Shannon.  Shannon was handing out the new silver and gold markers to us as we entered the after party.  Laura and I danced along with a full floor of demonstrators to great songs.  It was great fun!!!

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Hanging out in SLC

This morning we went to pick up our convention bag and free stamp sets at the Salt Palace.  Jan & Becky also got their First Timer pins.  I also had an award pin to pick up for recruiting and I get to pick out a stamp set for this too.  Here's a photo of the bag.  We also got 3 stamp sets free:  Affection Collection, Daydream Medallions, and You're Amazing.

Then we went to the SU! home office tour.  They had some fun crates featuring the newest In-Colors and tons of fun things to look at in the Legacy Museum.

And this framed poster is Stampin' Up!'s Statement of the Heart.  This is in their Idea Room.

After the tour we ate lunch at Olive Garden and then went back to the Salt Palace to do our organized show-off swap and go to Momento Mall (our logo store where we can by goodies to give to downlines or hostesses...and for ourselves of course).

I went over to the display boards too to take a peek...I'll have to look better later.  I needed to get back to the room to meet up with my roommates.

Then we went to dinner at the Blue Lemon again and wandered over to City Creek Center right next to the restaurant.  We bought chocolate at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and then watched the fountains put on a show.  Then we met Dee at the little steak place called Spencer's at our hotel to chat and have a drink.

Wow, so much fun already and convention hasn't really begun yet.  Tomorrow morning is Opening Session with Shelli.  I can't wait to hear the latest announcements and re-connect with more convention buddies.  We have also run into Twila & Susie twice.  Laura has run into another buddy or two as well.

More tomorrow...

Stampin' Up! Convention 2012 - Zip Lining?

We had a very smooth flight (Becky and I have a new phrase, "Miracles Happen?" which is what the flight check-in lady said when we asked to sit together on the flight).  We  arrived around 11:30, hotel by 12:30, lunch, then off in our rental car to Park City, Utah.  This is the day before the actual Convention starts, so we are site seeing.  We decided last year to explore a new area around SLC every year.  I picked Park City, Utah where the Olympics were in 2002 (I think).  They have shopping, outdoor adventures, beautiful scenery, and a cute downtown area.  I decided to ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain for the view and then decided...why not...I'll ride half way up and zip line down.  How often do you get a chance to zip line?  Becky, Laura, and Jan stayed on the ground.

Here's some photos of the view, the lift, and the zip line.  I waited in line with lots of 15 year olds and wondered where the brave older people were.  There started to be a few here and there, so I started feeling better.  It was great!  Loved it after the first jolt of leaving the gate.  It was fun and over too soon...I will definitely do it again if I get the chance.

We exchanged roommate gifts in the room and I was surprised to see this message in my Dove chocolate that was in a Decor Elements decorated coffee cup full of chocolates I received from Becky.  It says, "Love what you do"!  This is one of the lines in our Stampin' Up! Statement of the Heart...what are the odds???

We met up with our friend, Dee, after dinner at the Blue Lemon tonight (yum!)  She is waiting for her friends to all arrive.  Tomorrow we will go straight over to the Salt Palace after breakfast to pick up our free bags and check out everything.

Stampin’ Up! Convention 2012 – Leaving Tomorrow Morning!

Yay!  We are flying to Salt Lake City tomorrow morning.  It’s finally here!  I can’t wait to see all the cool things they have in store for us!  It’s almost like having a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.  Except Shelli is way prettier than Willie Wonka…anyway, I can’t wait to get there.   Here are a couple of my favorite photos from last year.
This is our group last year at Make’n’Takes.  We had Jena, Sarah, Laura, and me.

This is me and Laura at the Garden Party which I think was the welcome party the first night last year.  They had a contest for decorated garden hats.  Garden hats just really aren’t my thing, but I used my daughter’s little black cap with a pinned on fabric flower brooch I had made at Leadership Conference.  At least I did something, right?

I’ll post all the happenings and tons of photos on a one day lag, so be sure to join my blog or check back starting Wednesday for what’s going on in SLC.

Demo Stamp’n’Share and Triple-Time Stamping Technique

A couple of weeks ago, I had my quarterly Stamp’n’Share for my entire downline.  It was so much fun especially since there were twelve of us.  We played Stampin’ Up! Bingo that I made a few days before the meeting while talking shop.  I gave out prizes for the first 3 Bingos (2 lines any direction).  I also celebrated several of our team members for various successes and promotions.  For our Make’n’Take, I designed a Triple-Time Stamping card using the Papillon Potpourri, Perfect Punches, and Creative Elements stamp sets.  Here’s the sample.

Here are the dimensions of the layers.

Whisper White Layers:
2” x 3-1/4”
3” x 4-1/4”
4” x 5-1/4”

Card Base and Mats:
2-1/4” x 3-1/2”
3-1/4” x 4-1/2”
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” (fold in half for card base)

You just layer the Whisper White without the mats held together using temporary tape, stamp all over, separate, mat each layer, then pop up with dimensionals.

Here’s some photos of the fun!

Just a few days until Convention!!!!  Woo Hoo!!!
